If you are a fishing enthusiast, there are several methods you can use for fishing providing you with a wide range of options to choose from. The common one is where a fishing rod is used. It is fixed with a line and hook on its end and it remains to be the oldest mode of fishing as it was the first among the methods used in the long gone days of our forefathers. It works through dipping the hook into the water to trap the fish and once it bites the hook then the fisherman pulls it out very fast. This method is not that effective because you only catch one fish at a go thus cannot be relied upon very much.

Trolling is a simplified form of line fishing where a fishing lure is thrown into water so as to attract the fish near the hook and it is well suited to catch big fishes. Long line fishing furthermore is a more advanced line method which makes use of very many hooks that are baited together on one line and can be used for commercial since it records very huge catches. Furthermore, there is hand fishing which is a very tiring and tedious method because it uses hands. Although it is not that much different from line fishing, a fishing line fitted with weights as well as a lure is used in hand fishing but the entire fishing process is the same with minor variances.

Another method very popular with fishermen is bow fishing which involves shooting of the fish using a bow. In this, the fisherman positions himself well above the water and waits attentively for any fish to show up then aim at it. This is a very primitive way of fishing and it is not a reliable method because one is not guaranteed of any catch especially if you cannot target well. Traditionally, fishermen used to throw arrows manually but modernity has seen the realization of spear guns that help to throw the spears. Dredging is yet another one where the fisherman uses a chain mesh towed at the rear part of the boat and dipped into the waters. As the boat moves the fishes are trapped in the net and it is used to catch both small and big fishes although the amount you catch will depend on how fast you will move.

Kite fishing is an equally popular method of fishing where a line is attached to a kite and moved through the waters to catch fish. It is common with those fishermen who do not own boats but would want to fish. This method furthermore can be able to do fishing in deep grounds and areas where a boat cannot be able to sail to. Lastly, there is ice fishing which entails the fisherman cutting a thick piece of ice and then placing a fishing line there to catch all the fishes below the ice. This one is however not a common method and is used in very rare cases.
